A lifelong love of marine design…

I'm Rory Coase; a yacht & marine designer based in Bergen on Norway's beautiful west coast.

Growing up in the UK I had a keen interest in marine design. As a child I spent countless hours sketching new ideas, and reading about the history of yachts and ocean liners. Over the years I've been lucky enough to develop this passion into the career I enjoy today.

In 2010 I graduated with a BEng in Naval Architecture from the University of Southampton. After pausing for a while to busk, farm, and pancake-toss my way around the world I put my feet back on the ground and got started in the industry I love. I worked in-house as a Naval Architect and Yacht Designer for a number of yards across Europe, including Sunseeker in the UK and Viknes in Norway.

I took the plunge and founded Coase Design in 2020. Since then I've taken on a wide range of projects for local and international clients. As the business has grown, so has the team, and I now work with my trusted network of freelancers and expert contractors to support projects of any scale.

When I'm not hard at work you might find me swimming in the fjords, making music, watching movies and musicals, or just relaxing in the (rare) Bergen sunshine with good friends and a glass of white wine.
